- Use the diatonic scale.
- Have someone start a rhythmic ostinato and have the others join in one at a time, each with a different rhythm.
- Once everyone has been playing their ostinatos for a while, each may change in their own time to another ostinato with a different rhythm. The idea is that the overall rhythmic texture should gradually change into something else.
